What was a cold morning, quickly turned into a magic day on the course at The Palms Sanctuary Cove - and the course was looking amazing for GCGCs annual Lumber Punks Captains Axe event!
This year it was up to Captain Owen Ainsworth to continue the winning ways after Tony Byrnes led the team to victory in 2021, and he didn't disappoint. Going up against the in-form Vice-Captain of Ethan White, their match went down to the last hole and whilst Ethan may have taken that win, it was ultimately Owen who would lift the Axe trophy, leading the Captains to an early advantage of 10 matches to 6. We say early advantage because word on the street, these two teams will clash again in more round later in the year - this time a singles match play! The Captains have a 4 match head start so watch this space!
